That's what I was trying to achieve with the video

Thanks a lot.
I would have been there myself for a month of Sundays without help from Nige and Youtube on this MSI board.....

nige2000,

I am assuming NO CAPACITORS after the batteries.

Is this correct?

With lifepo4 it's easier to do harm with capacitors than good
what capacitor will cope with the speed?

1 uf or less film caps maybe if you must

No caps is preferred.

Less of a mess! Simplicity ...

Soldered leads/tabs to a few batteries last night and it was not all that difficult..

Using bits of Allen Wright's silver foil speaker wire for the tabs so I don't have to worry (too much) about oxidation.

Using the trick flux and the same company's tin/zinc solder on the batteries made it seem pretty easy. Was not interested in trying the my regular solder (WONDER SOLDER) on the batteries but did use that for the solder blob on the foil.

After attachment the foils are firmly affixed to the batteries.

I was careful to limit the time.

I did find that it is best to get it right the first time, though. Going back to add solder seemed to be trickier.

The positive end is the hardest one - soaks up the most heat and once those batteries warm up they are slow to release it. One should understand patience and plenty of time is required before starting the process.

Now to see if they still work!

THANKS for all of the guidance and wisdom.

Glad others are struggling on this bios. All the areas I believe I need to get into a greyed out. Is there some option to enable or disable
to allow changes to this board? Mine is running at 43c is that ok?

Jeez I found intel bios difficult
maybe it depends what you're used to
Regardless bios settings is fine tuning
the pc is audio hell it's all about damage limitation

nige2000,

As I prepare to actually wire this stuff up I have meditated on the "power" switch.

I used quotes because I am wondering: what if there is only a switch on the ground side?

One could connect all grounds to this one point. One could use a simple switch to power up both sides of the chip. It would greatly simplify the wiring along with shortening the wires. Positive leads would be continuous from the batteries to the DAC.

Can you think of any reason not to do this?

I know a break in the circuit is a break no matter where it appears - no getting around that but not having to use a switch for both sets of batteries seems an advantage.

Your thoughts are appreciated.
