Naaaa.. it just does not smell right at all. There is one of these amps on Audiogon 2nd hand and the guy is looking for nearly $3000 from the US. You would have to pay for shipping costs and then import duty when it was sorted in Portlaoise.
It just does not make any sense at all. But I did not know they made a charcoal face for the ATC 2.
As Fran said earlier, "if it is too good to be true, that's because it probably is".
Still a beautiful pre amp though!!

Seems to be closed down now. Must have been fishy.

Well the item was withdrawn 2 days ago by the seller, it reached 500 quid and was then withdrawn.
But lo and behold the amp is back, again for sale in Spain, 2 days to go on the auction and zero bids. The seller this time appears to be located in the US and appears to specialise in motorbike parts. The plot thickens....

I dont know Adrian I think you are being a bit too sceptical here. It is entirely possible and plausible that this person is a uk resident with a holiday home in spain but also motorcyle business interests in the states while also retaining an interest in fishing tackle in timbucktu.
He probably has just flown to the states from spain on business and is anxious to move on the item. What do you think?
Is he in the north western or south western region of the states?

On the subject of scams this is from tht guardian ..
http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2011/ma ... NTCMP=SRCH
"Online fraud: Crooks Googled me : An advert in Mike Milotte's Gmail inbox encouraged him to spend £2,000 on a camera from a scam website. Why do the police, banks and Google do so little about this sort of deception?"
Essentially the reader mentioned an expensive camera in his gmail [which of course is read automatically by google] and he then started getting ads for a fake website selling the camera he mentioned.

Our old friend "Upgraditis Temptatius" is back again.
I checked the Cloney site this morning and lo and behold there is a Airtight ATM 2 for sale!!
As Austin Powers would say......"Oooohhhh.........Baby!!!!!"
Not too sure which one of us is parting with this beauty, but best of luck with the sale!!

€6,500? Bargain. I'd say you'd get it for €6,300 for cash.
Seriously though, they actually are a bargain. The components and build quality are on a different level to most amps. Buy it and walk to work.
