I'll have Lector CDP7 with me on Sunday, it's the big brother of the cd6 http://www.audiolincs.co.uk/wtsnew.php? ... prd_id=376 but I imagine would have a similar sound.

Our award winners may give you a few options.

Depending on the price point and the functions you need the player to have I'm sure we could recommend a few and organize a demo on them if you fancied hearing all the options before you buy!

Just pour some milk on a bowl of rice krispies and you're sorted.

You'll be flooded with choices I suspect Claus. 2 things I would say: 1. don't ignore the possibility of moving to computer audio - this area has jumped a huge amount, and with your IT skills its very doable. Even personally, I use the squeezebox a lot. 2. Don't be afraid to buy secondhand from a reputable source.

Given your budget, you should be able to pick up a very nice player/transport/dac combo for that money which will satisfy for years to come.

You'll never take me alive.

Claus, do you get the impression that CD replay has made huge leaps forward in recent years? I don't, but I am happy to stand corrected. In any case, consider second-hand. Anyone got some dCS gear lying around?
