I haven't a breeze (!) but thanks all the same, and if I ever figure anything out I'll let you know.

This should work... that said I haven't had any luck with mine yet but there's a lot of distractions right now... I've been trying to change minidiscs (old radio progs) to files on the PC
it connects by RCA to your source and by USB to the PC. Audacity is very easy really and free, just keep it simple!

You know, I read this thread and thought "zero interest in cassettes", then I went to my parents' house and found a tape of a concert I had attended that got replayed on the radio and that I then recorded. I'd actually like to hear it again. Joke's on me, I guess.
Don't suppose you've any way of capturing it digitally, bod?
I assume your PC has an audio in connection (Generally two -- microphone and line). So just get a phono to mini-jack cable and connect your cassette recorder to the PC.
Install audacity and you should be able to record it. Assuming you get it all working you can think about better (and dearer) sounds cards. Or external USB boxes.
Audacity has lots of options but for simple recording it's not too hard to use.

I'd say the tape itself is very poor, so I might see what I can do. Quality won't be high no matter what.
