Nice catch, I've ordered one as it should be a bit of an upgrade to my waveio - if only because of the updated xmos chip.

What freq is that clock running at in the top-left? I'm guessing the pair in low-right are the 45/49M.

yes its on a soekris atm with a reclocking flipflop before the i2s goes into the soekris then bypassing the isolators
ill be putting a usb2412 chip on the front of it too soon

Nige I've ordered one of these diyinhk boards as well (to make external power easier and to compare the larger xmos). I'm interested in the flip flop reclock but am having a hard time figuring out the easiest approach. The original hifiduino page talks about soldering directly to the clocks but it doesn't look like you've done that for your board?

dont pass much heed to my dodge experiments i reckon if its worthwhile a few cm of wire shouldnt completely negate worthy benefits
see that dodgy blue wire closest between the diyinhk and the ff
that is the master clock signal

the way id do it would be turn the ff board upsidedown
place directly under diyinhk pinout and run a very short wire from mck out to cp on ff

although the i2s wires will be longer than the mck wire
i guess it would be more optimal with shorter mck wire

Thanks. How would you rate the improvement of adding the flip flop. Not really finding a lot of subjective feedback on that, though people get excited.

Just noticed the sd player thread. Which do you prefer the sd or pc/usb as source?

i prefer my sd card but not by much
but difficult to answer in a general sort of way due to the amount of modification involved in both setups
the pc setup has a ludicrous amount of mods
the sd card well is just simpler in all ways
it obtains a very low noise floor that pc struggles with and provides lashings of reverb, decay and micro detail in a very free flowing way

bang for buck award surely goes to the modded sd card player

Interesting. I think I’ll order one. The Lifepo setup with charger and switches is probably more than I want to take on, but I have the 3.3v low noise power supplies from Diyinhk coming so I could try those instead.

Main question I have is what clocks did you use to replace? You mentioned ndk?
