Nice.....looks like you guys had a lot of fun! :)))
Just curious what was the battery supply for the Regen? Was is it some special John's mod? Any pictures?

Um, right well. That certainly is blind. It's, eh, perhaps not exactly what I would understand by "blind" in this context, but I admire your dedication!

Just to satisfy the scientific minded - the first picture is a double blind test (DBT) often spoken of as the gold standard for "proving" you can hear a difference. In this pic you see the great lengths that have to be gone into to ensure the rigour of the test, even to the extent that hand signals are used to communicate lest the timbre of voice might act as a "coaching" signal.
The second pic shows the less rigorous single blind test (SBT)!! And we can also see a cheater in that pic - Nige who was meant to have his head up in that lamp shade - so we can safely disregard everything he posts in this thread as he is delusional (as you can see on his face)

Simple, really - bypass all regulators on the Regen & supply 3.3V battery supply directly to power clock & USB hub chip - no 5V supply considered or used as I don't agree with USB cable carrying 5V supply - it degrades the sound & any USB audio device that needs 5V Vbus is sub-optimal, IMO.
As Nige, the delusional one, says - a significant jump in sound.

Thanks John for the explanation, but that is definitely out of my league!
Maybe you should do the same like with the M2TECH and sale "upgraded Regens"! ;-)

Maybe, but I've bigger fish to fry :)
BTW, supplying a 6.6V supply (using the same batteries) to the DC input of the Regen provides some improvement over a good linear PS but is not nearly as good sounding as the direct battery powering technique.

After you "fry the big fish" you can make the Regen upgrade like a "side dish"! ;-)
