Cayin HA-1A Headphone amp
Re: Cayin HA-1A Headphone amp
I think I walked no ran into that one. Really at this stage all I can suggest is that the ivor fella should at least suffer the same fate as his namesake and be banned for 20 days without pay. I thought this was a family site. Can I suggest a forum committee of his peers should investigate this situation immediately. At this stage I am holding up the white flag not a yellow one

So did we..... Okay, done!tony wrote: I thought this was a family site.
I wish I would just do likewise and buy a proper headphone amp. 90% of my listening is done on the 'phones. What will you be driving with that beauty?

I am not certain yet .More than likely akg K701's .I have heard them and HD600's. Really liked the clear uncluttered sound of the Akg's.
Fran has a truckload of headphones and has suggested the superlux phones reviewed on the site. They are for nothing and Fran seems to really rate them. I have to wait and here them and HD650's before checking with Paulb where the best price is. They will definetely be a 220v model I cant go through the process above again!

Would it be a good idea for us to meet up some night next week and have a get together?

Dont get me wrong Paul just kidding I just wish I had seen your site before ordering thats all I meant, no offence taken here whatsoever I had a good laugh over it. I would still be a bit nervous about ordering from that site but had a go at ordering(before cancelling) and there doesnt seem to be any postage. Fran think thats a great idea re visit if it suits you, I am very keen to hear them all. I wouldnt mind bringing one lp to try out on your recordcleaning contraption thingyinbob(I bet it is a work of art carefully crafted on your lathe)

Re: Cayin HA-1A Headphone amp
After listening to a few headphones at Fran's I decided to go for the fuller, richer sound of the HD650s. Absolutely love the sound, but I do find them very tight on my head. I've tried stretching them, but it doesn't seem to make much difference. Never noticed it with Fran's pair though.
It was an easy choice for me, but the AKGs are just so beautiful looking, it's hard to resist.

No prob on the cleaner front - but I can safely reveal its rough as f*?! And noise too but it works well.
I'll organise things in a few days but tues/wed week might suit this end

Fran Tuesday would work for me cant do wednesday. Frankie I believed that the HD650's would be the ones I would automatically pick. The Fuller richer sound wth loads of bass is what I thought would automatically be the best(most suited to my music etc) But when I heard the clarity of the AKG's that totally changed my judgement. I heard them against HD600's so want to make sure the 650's are just more of the same. Of course if frans superluxs are what he suggests then who knows.
Even the setup I ended up with when changing/updating my hifi was cyrus which is regarded as lean etc. I would never have thought I would go that way. For me the conclusion I have come to is that I want to here whats on the album. I dont want driving bass as it drowns out everthing. Short version of this is I am probably getting old.
I have even started listening to tons of Neil Young who I detested in my youth.

Tony, the way to look at that is that you are of an age where you are more mature and are now (finally) making sensible decisions!!!
