Selling the Vandersteens, if going after the Audiums, I would have thought the 3 a better bet for a 12 sq metre room.

Hi Peter,
I haven't made my mind up yet about the change and I was only looking for potential alternatives and then came across Audium speakers which seems to be attractive proposition in terms of design that various from majority of other construction.
To me Audium 5 seems like it might be suitable speaker for smaller spaces providing fuller than mini monitor sound without overly bloomy bass response……just thinking;)
Previously I owned few small standmount speakers and I disliked them for shouty and boxy character lacking sense of weight and authority so 3 would not be my choice.
I might get 5 for demo just need to talk to dealer and see what can be done.
Regards

My feeling is that the 3s wouldn't be shouty.

Just want to thank Maciej , he's a top man to deal with and i hope he finds the sound he's looking for. Cheers Maciej.
So i picked up his pair of vandie 1C's the other night and have been playing with them a bit and comparing with the proac 110's i own, gorgeous big expansive sound they make, and very easy to listen to which really attracted me, however they've actually shown me how good the Proacs really are, just a different sound.
Reserving judgement for a while yet but didnt expect it was going to be hard deciding which pair i want to keep now .
note: Quite surprising the level of bass and soundstage the proacs can produce compared to a speaker much larger like the vandy.

Hello Michael,
Thanks to you Michael for patience with waiting for making my mind up ;) and for introducing me to some good music.
I am glad you like the Vandys
I have never had a chance to listen them in larger room so I am really curious what they sound like in your place, you’ll have the visitor soon then. I know for sure there are not many speakers in this price range (if only someone could get rid of tax you have to pay for bringing them from States) that are capable of creating vide and deep soundstage as Vandersteen’s so if this is what someone admire most in a speakers it should really audition them.
I hope you keep the ProAc’s as well for your critical monitor listening so I’ll have idea about their skills. I can imagine that the 2 pairs are totally different apart from the size in the sound signature.
Cheers!
Maciej
