Thanks for the kind offer.
I don't think my laptop has USB 3 but I'm sure my daughter's one must and she's heading off for the summer.
Would I be able to access music on a USB drive also attached to the laptop?

Hi, my names Johnny and I.......
I don't know how to put this..... so I'll just come out and say it....
I don't know what MQN is!
seriously though, if I have a pathological aversion to windows; what's the current best practice for Mac playback?

Jaybee this reminds me of a TV ad that used to run on Irish TV for the Financial Regulator with the tag line "I don't know what a tracker mortgage is"

To answer your q the best audio software on Mac seems to be Audirvana, I believe
Edit: I forgot to add that one of the reasons why Audirvana is considered good is because it can use Direct mode or Integer mode. I know you didn't want to get into any technical stuff but these modes are a more direct/optimised internal pathway for the digital audio signals - which is very similar to what MQN is doing on the PC (but MQN is doing this optimisation in a much more effective way)

For Digital Audio playback that delivers WHERE the performers are on stage but more importantly WHY they are there.
