Don't worry. If I keep buying tubes at my current rate I'll be opening up a shop shortly.

It's not a necessity, in fact it's to be avoided if at all possible. It leads to premature lumpy madness.

Wouldnt be too worried about that Steve. There seems to be 4 valves in that 12ax7's and 2 6xxx. It aint going to cost the earth to revalve that. RCA's will not break the bank.

Well done Simon sorry should have read your post more carefully. Hope it works out for the two of you. Nice break in one week considering you are both keen on getting preamps for the wadia's.

Uk especially around birmingham seems to be a hotbed for nice kit.

We are, and always have been, an astonishingly bad influence on each other.

Whilst it may once have been "bad influence on each other", it is now merely good judgement...

If one is going to incur the wrath of a significant other owing to yet another Hi-Fi purchase, then much better to do it in pairs so that both significant others can then only agree on how despotic their other halves are, rather than cite an improvement in the behaviour of one despairing hifi nut over the other.....

I know you're joking, but my head was VERY turned by this ad during the week:

If I had different amps (i.e. arc welders) I'd be very tempted to sell the Quads and buy these to not use instead. I heard them in the shop once a long time ago, and they stick in my mind as some of the best speakers I've ever heard.

If you've no interest in bass, that is.
