Forum rules
Note that Tir Na HiFi does not take any responsibility for transactions arranged or carried out here. It is up to the seller and buyer to check each other out! Please be sensible folks, and if there is something you think is wrong, let a mod know, OK?

To make it as clear as we can, here are some simple guidelines:

a) like any forum, the success of tirnahifi is entirely dependent on discussion. All members are encouraged to participate in discussion of music, hifi, etc.
b) tirnahifi is not designed to be, nor intended to be, a marketplace. Any member who uses the site merely for selling will be looked on suspiciously.
c) those members who choose to sell on the site should be aware that the mods do keep an eye on the stuff for sale, plus the demeanour of the seller. Sometimes we may lock/delete/ban a sales thread on this basis.
d) honesty is paramount in all selling transactions. Commercial sellers who label themselves as such are accepted at the discretion of the moderating team.
e) All ads have to include information about age, price, provenance, etc.
f) THE MODERATING TEAM RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REMOVE ANY ADS AT THEIR DISCRETION.
g) Commercial sellers should approach any of the moderation team in advance of posting. First time commercial posts without moderator contact will be removed.

We haven't had a poll in ages! Options for adding a poll are at the bottom of the usual new thread page.

The bottom line for me is the sound. I've had Audiolab amps that I loved the sound of but hated the look of. Do I like the look of my current (Quad) monolithic speakers? Well no but they have to look like that to sound that good so it's not a problem!
I'd never buy hifi based on the looks but obviously pretty boxes are a bonus. I liked the Copland gear I had. Clean, clever and functional design - and they sounded bloody good too.

I don't mind the look of the Quad amps and CD players so much but since their sound never appealed to me it wasn't an issue. If I liked the sound I could certainly live with them.

Atari Jaguar! Now there's a blast from the past. I remember wanting one but I was about 14 when they came out so I didn't have the 'punts' for one!

I did splash out on a Sega Dreamcast after though, plus the usual XBOX, XBox360, PS3 bla bla bla, never play them mind you.

Anyway, I'm getting off topic of the off topic here!

We could do a poll to rate gear from 'Stunner to Fugly' or somehting like that either! :)
