Not heard of very often, but I remember reading about a Red Rose Amplifier using EL 34's, that was about 11 years ago, retailing at around 8 to 9 grand sterling. It got a very good review too.

Some of the Audio Note stuff is good too. Soro and Oto come to mind.

Or how about Graaf, anybody on the forum using this one?

Image

And of course Glen Croft, Cybot's favorite..

Image

Cloney's sold a few of these, I always thought they looked like a Audiolab but with valves inside!!

You could look into a hybrid, such as Unison Research Unico, however I have not heard much about these amps.

Or perhaps..

With that baby in the house your central heating system would never have to be switched on!!! Imagine all the money one would save on your central heating bill!!!!! Never mind the cost, just think about the savings!!!!!!!! Even got its own heat shield at the base and back!!!

I would love to have heard this amplifier... Jadis DA 60,

Image

And of course its bigger brother.. Jadis DA 88S

Image

Apparently a big amplifier, it lets those speakers know just "who is your daddy"

Steve, an occasional visitor to the forum, has JA80 monoblocks and they're enormous, very heavy, and sound gorgeous. I'd love to hear those in a shoot out against the Air Tight ATM3's.

Simon dont know how I forgot to mention Graaf as the 50b is one I would love to hear and if it turned up I would try and snap it up.
The only one I have seen for sale is in Bulgaria and is too pricey etc. Graaf seem to be very sturdily built and of a particular high quality.Sad to see they are gone.

Adrian Jadis DA60. Was talking to a guy in geneva as thats where we are flying into this year quickly exiting to friends who live in France. Turns out amp is 16yrs old circa €4k asking price and just found out it weights 35kgs so you wont get to see or hear one in my house.

I dont think a Solid state thread would generate as many pictures of amps whatever it is about the auld valves that stirs the soul.

Some more to whet the appetite

Valve amplifiers are not just amplifiers. They can be works of art as well!!, not just on the outside, but also on the inside.

Airtight 300B, what a beauty!!!!!!!!!!

Image

Airtight 211

Image

Wavac, absolutely some amazing valves are used in these amplifiers, costing big dough.

Image

Acoustic Masterpiece AM 201, lid off.

Image

Lid on.

Come on boys... lets get a photo of your favorite amplifier up!!!!!!!!
