You're absolutely right Ciaran. Sorry for coming across as a cheapskate with my 1-2k cablesCiaran wrote:Dave, you can do better than that. For the Nordost Odin Supreme Reference Power Cord it would be €30,000 for a pair, assuming you thought you could get away with the 2.5m length!DaveF wrote:I think the price is similar to the current models. Around 10K for the 2912 model and 8k for the other one.
You'll need 2 power chords though so thats another 1-2k extra if done properly.

Re: New Quad ESL's
Just for a bit of balance.... Andy Spencer made me a pair of 4 metre power cables for very sensible money. It was quite some time ago but I think they were less than €300 for the pair. Yes they did make a difference.DaveF wrote:You're absolutely right Ciaran. Sorry for coming across as a cheapskate with my 1-2k cablesCiaran wrote:Dave, you can do better than that. What are they Ivor? Is it Andy's silver cables with ordinary plugs or specials? Did you ever try nordost cables on them?

Re: New Quad ESL's
they were fairly standard cables (it is a while ago now, 6+ years). Andy always uses good quality plugs anyway.tony wrote:What are they Ivor? Is it Andy's silver cables with ordinary plugs or specials? Did you ever try nordost cables on them?
I didn't try "big name" cables because the lengths I needed weren't readily available and anyway they would have been too dear for me. I'm open to the charms of cables - I can state categorically they've made improvements to my system - but there is a point of diminishing returns. If I was thinking of spending thousands on mains conditioning I'd start with the fuse board, the mains cable itself and the actual wall sockets.

Sure for the heck of it I will stick the nordost blue heaven cables I have into the quads and see if something happens. For neatness I can see how you want to use a couple of long runs back to a socketIvor wrote:they were fairly standard cables (it is a while ago now, 6+ years).
