Doubt it but give it a try. I tried but no-go. Ahem, it's a good reason for getting a good USB DAC, ahem, cough, cough, splutter!!
The laptop has been purchased, just waiting to meet up with my friend with the Placette volume control and we're good to go with the demo. Meeting him next weekend I think. I should probably start ripping CDs to the laptop to get me started.

Oh, I've had this account for a long time now but haven't used it in a long time - I didn't realise people had to sign up for a simple download. Has anybody got another easy to use file storage site?

Hi John,
www.dropbox.com is good , you can load a file to your public folder, supply the link and anyone can download from there.
Make sure you only upload what's needed and take it away when your're finished and don't upload anything of a sensitive nature or you could be embarrassed for life!

I didn't want anybody to post so as not to influence others :) Would you delete your post, please? Thanks!
I also asked people to focus on the rim shots sound & say (via PM) what differences they found between the two files & maybe which is most natural sounding?

I deleted there now... no offence to the poster!

Thanks Ivor, I'm sure it's just a mistake & the poster will realise that to post his impressions is likely to influence others in the same direction as him or the opposite direction if they want to prove him wrong or something like that, the permutations are twisting me in knots! I actually wanted to refine the test a bit because I feel there are some issues I want to address. So I will be putting up a new set of files anyway.
