What are you listening two?
Re: What are you listening two?
Ludwig van Beethoven
Symphony No. 8
Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen
Paavo Järvi
I listened to this performance a few times over the weekend. The opening of the first movement demands instant attention, the tempo is brisk without being hurried, the entire symphony is a joy from start to finish it’s beautifully played and the recording engineers do it justice. I just love it.
Recommended.

Good stuff Seán. The Beethoven 8 is probably unfairly neglected but, I agree, it is a joy if it is given due attention.

Re: What are you listening two?
I do like to listen to a wee bit of Albinoni from Tim e to time but this is one I don’t know.

Re: What are you listening two?
I agree, it's probably one of my favourite performances on that set. It really does pack a punch, well it is Gardiner after all.

That's a new one on me Fergus. I've never heard of that ensemble before this.

Re: What are you listening two?
That can be solved at our next listening session if you so desire, my friend.
However, you are probably familiar with Albinoni's Symphonic music I would guess, Concertos and Sinfonias etc. This CD is from his Chamber Music repertoire. The music is equally as good but it does have a different flavour!
