Totally agree.
These kind on chain music stores have been the first ones to try to kill the vinyl records after the commercial success of the CD, and now they are promoting it again as the format to buy.
And their message is that you can easily enjoy the amazing analog sound using a cheap Crosley player. Just money before honesty.

Definitely ,support local genuine independent record shops. Old school I know but worthy imho.Ivor wrote: ↑Thu May 18, 2023 2:08 pm HVM returns to the high street. It looks like it's rebranding to look like an independent store. I'd suggest we buy from genuine independent stores.

I couldn't resist taking this picture of Golden Discs window in Saint Stephen's Green this morning:
On the left only one promoted album, Barbie soundtrack.
On the right a number of super-hero puppets aligned next to Super Mario.
Is this shop selling music at all?
Best

I had a look-in the week HMV reopened. It's the O'Connell St end of Henry St (near More St). Three floors -- two of which (including the ground floor) are just "merchandise". The music is upstairs. They have a tiny raised stage in the corner (upstairs) but nothing was happening when I was there.
Would not particularly recommend it and can't see myself going in again.
