Thanks Dermot, that was great.
I may have told the story before but not long after Rory died, there was a commemorative lecture given by Marcus Connaughton here in Cork to celebrate Rory and I suppose mark his passing for the fans (his book on Rory is worth a look if you can still find it too). After the lecture, they played a 30min video recording from the BBC (Old Grey Whistle test I think) and at the end it got a standing ovation....really moving.
Tomorrow's Hot Press is a Rory 25th special too, might be worth a look?

Thanks for the story on the Rory talk. I'm sure I have the book. The cover does look very familiar. That BBC video sounds very familiar too. I may have recorded it on the old tapes and, to this day, I simply cannot trace it. I know it was a fabulous concert and I'd give anything to see it again. Did he start off with Calling Card I wonder? Ah it's the ones that get away that haunts us to our graves.

Takes me all the way back to Oatlands in the early 70's.
Still don't know what he's singing about.

Guys, another good 'Rory Gallagher' read is:

RORY GALLAGHER A Biography by Jean-Noel Coghe

ISBN: 1 85635 372 9
It's OK, if there is no bread I will eat cake.

Beware of a thin chef!
