Shane,

You might just enjoy this. Watched it for the very first time last night. It was on an ancient Rory compilation DVD box set I'd forgotten about of his performances on the Rockpalast stage between 1976 and 1990. Stuck at the end of the first DVD and a really lovely surprise that's been lying in wait for me since 2007.....

Went on a nostalgic Elton John kick, these are far better recorded than I remembered.
Original LP's. Some gems hidden among the better known pieces.

Listening again tonight to Jennifer Castle’s exquisite meditation on grief and rebirth, Angels of Death. This has proved to be one of the most enduring and profoundly satisfying albums of recent years. Written in the aftermath of a loved one’s bereavement, this chronicles the numbness of the dark days that followed as well as the gradual process of healing and growth and renewal. These are lines wrenched from a heart and soul in disrepair and put down on paper and laboured over at length. There is a sincerity in these lines which is plain spoken and direct and deeply affecting. There is no simplistic epiphany to be found here at journey’s end but, rather, a hard-won stubbornness of mind to endure and persist to honour the memory of the one who was lost.

A beautiful album and very highly recommended.
