I recently purchased Tell Q blue speaker cable.Does it take long for this cable to "run in"?
It is fantastic for detail but at the moment it is sounding a little "bright".

Re: Tell Q Blue Speaker Cable
I use Tellurium Q Ultra Black speaker cable and when I bought them Dave Campbell in Kronos AV in Dungannon did tell me what to expect and I must admit I baulked a bit at what he said but he was spot on.
It sounded really great initially - more detail and frequencies well under control - and then, after a few weeks, it began to harden up and become very harsh. Following Dave's advice I persevered and after another month or so the sound came back even better than before. Yes it's utterly illogical and makes no sense at all but there ye go.
I remember Tony borrowed the cables at the time but it was just as they were having their mid life crisis!

Re: Tell Q Blue Speaker Cable
Thanks for that.Indeed the cables are new and also the speakers.I purchased a pair of Kef r300s.I will just have to be patient.
I have toed the speakers slightly and it has made a slight difference.I am undecided about what interconnects to get.

Re: Tell Q Blue Speaker Cable
Yes I remember that moment. With the Cyrus system in place at the time the combination was a bit ear piercing. Tell Q has that reputation for brightness and I have seen it moved on by people as a result. But heard it in Ivor's system ages ago on Quad 989's and it sounded fine (not bright in any way) so give it a chance to 'burn' in.

Re: Tell Q Blue Speaker Cable
Yep, the reviews had warned me but Dave went out of his way to ensure I knew what I was getting into! I should add I'm still using them and through several different speakers since then... still sound pretty good!

Re: Tell Q Blue Speaker Cable
Thanks for that.I have been advised also to get the Tell interconnects.Any thoughts on that? Around 200 euro from Cloney audio.
Re: Tell Q Blue Speaker Cable
Cloneys will give you a loan of cables to try out. Impossible to give a definitive answer. Go to other forums and you will have a posse telling you cables have no impact. I would suggest getting a couple of options from Cloneys to try out and see if they do anything for you. When I went through that phase I got a selection of cables from Ivor and the Nordost Heimdall stood out as seeming to be better than the other cables. Even blind testing it I had a preference for it. But as a caveat Pearse brought a pair of Nordost something very expensive I can't remember the model. Used them at a listening session with others and didn't notice anything. I think if you get your system sounding to what you like with the components you prefer cables will have limited impact generally. Having said that I am still open enough to try anything and if it works great.

Re: Tell Q Blue Speaker Cable
Thanks for that Tony.I am going to give the Tell Q a go.I have been advised to give them a try with the same family of cable.I will report back my experience next week.
Re: Tell Q Blue Speaker Cable
Ivan can burn in a new set of interconnects for you if you ask nicely.
