Forum rules
Note that Tir Na HiFi does not take any responsibility for transactions arranged or carried out here. It is up to the seller and buyer to check each other out! Please be sensible folks, and if there is something you think is wrong, let a mod know, OK?

To make it as clear as we can, here are some simple guidelines:

a) like any forum, the success of tirnahifi is entirely dependent on discussion. All members are encouraged to participate in discussion of music, hifi, etc.
b) tirnahifi is not designed to be, nor intended to be, a marketplace. Any member who uses the site merely for selling will be looked on suspiciously.
c) those members who choose to sell on the site should be aware that the mods do keep an eye on the stuff for sale, plus the demeanour of the seller. Sometimes we may lock/delete/ban a sales thread on this basis.
d) honesty is paramount in all selling transactions. Commercial sellers who label themselves as such are accepted at the discretion of the moderating team.
e) All ads have to include information about age, price, provenance, etc.
f) THE MODERATING TEAM RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REMOVE ANY ADS AT THEIR DISCRETION.
g) Commercial sellers should approach any of the moderation team in advance of posting. First time commercial posts without moderator contact will be removed.

Wanted CD player

Post by Friendlyfire »

Marantz CD 46 Loading tray is jamming, this unit gladdened our ears for 30 nearly and is only used occasionally by my 86 yr old mum.
So I need something that she would find user friendly /similar. and easy to use also one that can play CD-R. As it is I have to drive across the city once a week to' fix' the brand new flatscreen and virgin remote box which are not user friendly for her generation. Defiinte gap in the market for Tv, Cd, and Mobile phone for this generation. Don't want to have to introduce another mulibuttoned badly designed remote to her again. I do realise we can't turn the clock back to the old two channel days with single button on off options. Cloneys have a decent NAD cd player at under 300 maybe that's where I should go? I am in Dublin 10 if anyone has a suggestion. Merry Christmas guys.

I can offer choice of a Marantz CD 5001 with no remote - your remote should work fine, or a 5 disc Sony CDP CE375 with remote. Either is yours for €60.
I can't 100% guarantee CDR playback on either machine because there's just so many variables however I don't remember ever a problem playing them.
Vinyl -anything else is data storage.
