probably the best usb to i2s device
probably the best usb to i2s device
http://www.diyinhk.com/shop/audio-kits/ ... d_0_96_pcb
not much to dislike
3.3v external power
linear 1.2 v for core
linear reg for system clock
still better with off board reclocker
a new standard

Thanks Nigel, sounds like a nice upgrade from my Amanero.

Re: probably the best usb to i2s device
Just ordered one Nige, the final frontier for me after lots of messing with Amanero, reclocking, clocks, etc.
I expect Amanero should be reacting to all this and would expect to see something new from them soon, will ask Lukasz if he knows of any new developments.

im sure there still will be plenty of messing ive already decided to leave the reclocking flipflop in the chainSligolad wrote:Just ordered one Nige, the final frontier for me after lots of messing with Amanero, reclocking, clocks, etc.

Nige2000,
Does bring any improvement to the boards like Soekris that have their own reclocking: FPGA and/or flipflops?

yes its on a soekris atm with a reclocking flipflop before the i2s goes into the soekris then bypassing the isolatorsTioFrancotirdor wrote:Nige2000,

ill be putting a usb2412 chip on the front of it too soon
this is the pic of initial testing
whenever we get the perfect source upstream wont matter :)

Nige2000,
This blue board has possibility to remove ferrite beads and power clock with external 3.3V. Have you tried that? If so does it brings any improvement?
Does the bypassing Soekris isolators brings SQ improvment?

no havent got that far yet hadnt even noticed the ferrite beads the system clock is lower voltage maybe 1.6 or so but ive used a resistor divider sucessfully before as powerTioFrancotirdor wrote:Nige2000,

Yes with lifepo4 id be confident it will make a noticeable improvement
Dangerous questionDoes the bypassing Soekris isolators brings SQ improvment?
If youve got good noise control yes but id keep it well down on the list of things to do
