Are you kidding now or there should be a white dot also?!

I tried to power the PPA clock directly with +5v and all the combinations with the ground!
Nothing changes.....dead!
When using the mobo ground, on voltmeter I get 6.2v reading, even that on the source from PS is only 5v!!!
Does that says the mobo is shortening somewhere.......or my clock?

It would be a good idea to try external 5v

Do not be afraid to take out a crystal if you apply enough heat solder and flux it really just falls out

What mobo is ppa selling now?
I actually never asked PPA what is he selling now, I just asked for the same one.

I still don't understand, after the crystal falls out......what than? What I'm gonna put instead?!
OK, I can see now what PPA did!!!

My mobo original:

Same mobo after PPA mod:

So after taking the clock out that pin need to be inserted for data! :)

After rereading Pearse post I can see that he already mention "inserting new pin", but now I finally got the full picture!
Now even the Nigel's pins on the clock make sense! Not just sloppy work! :)
I wondered why are two pins one way and the other one is opposite way! So, you inserted the data pin into mobo (down) and the two pins for power (up)..........for the alligators! :) :)

pang doesnt seem to be keeping the bog upto date

his offerings are here
http://www.highend-audiopc.com/shop/en/paul-pang-audio

https://onedrive.live.com/?authkey=%21A ... 48&o=OneUp

i see also that the system clk is now 24mhz on skylake mobos not 25mhz like it was previous
ppa quote
24MHz Clock upgrade module is for 110,150,170 chipset,
If you need clock module for LGA1151 CPU,
Please noted 24MHz module when order
that should be significant improvement as its usb frequency

opens the door to possibly trying synchronizing mobo and usb card

anyone hear anything about skylake mobos sounding better?

I think that those are the new offerings.
3 months ago, when I bought my MSI, he didn't had this other mobo's and now he doesn't have MSI anymore, so it's kind of up to date.

I'm just watching that video with taking the clock of all day, trying to practice for my future "smoken mobo's" and there is one thing that I don't get: why needs to apply solder before taking the clock out?!

you add solder to increase the contact area and mass to get good transfer of heat

Any thoughts on this:
When using the mobo ground on PPA clock, on voltmeter I get 6.2v reading, even that on the source from PS is only 5v!!!

I tried to power the clock directly from my PS with 5V and using the mobo ground.
There was no change in the booting (dead), but when i checked the voltage what came to the clock it was 6.2v!
Does that say that is some shortage in mobo, or maybe even my clock died?!

doesnt make sense if theres only 5v going to the clk thats all there can be?
