I'm not sure that you are best served by either option - especially not at those prices. I think a far better TT at much lower money would be a good condition Technics SL1210 - preferably the later mark models and not one that has been hammered by DJ use. Speed will be rock solid, the arm is easily upgraded if you want after a period, and SQ is very good. From the one that I've heard, it would beat either of those others mentioned by a long shot. The LP12 is a very fine table - and even more so when the better power supplies and arms are included... but then the money rises too.

Anyway, just my 2c.

@Fran Good advice, now I remember I can inherit a 1210 in mint condition from my stepfather :-)
KAB USA is full of mods for 1210: https://www.kabusa.com/frameset.htm?/m1200.htm
I was not aware about the possibility to upgrade the arm, I have to investigate.
Thanks !

Got the inherited turntable from stepfather, for free :-)

Here it is, condition like new.
Tomorrow I will mount my Dynavector, in the next weeks I will replace the phono camble with a Kimber KCAG (one of the best cables for phono imho)..

One hour ago I was in the hifi shop close to my house, taking a look on the second hand gear.
Two interesting tts:

1) Thorens TD524, very good state, I have a suspect of arm not in the best state, at 1500/1800 euro, maybe too much but what a superb machine !

2) Heybrook with alphason arm and external power supply for switching speed, mint state, at approx 900 euro

both tt have a new (rebuild) dust cover

any comment ?
Thorens TD524??. That was the version with same innards as the EMT wasn't it.Where did you see it for sale?

In Sergio Dulicchio shop in Italy:
(The man who sold me the Sonus Faber Elipsa Red that are owned by Simon right now)

unfortunately he doesn't have a website.
The TD524 is in very, very, good conditions.

Dynavector xx2 up and running :-)
I know, the cartridge list price is 3+ times the turntable (1.500 euro - 400 euro) , but first impressions are very good, but I didn't add my impressions until the new speakers will be at home, 10 days form now.
For everyone who don't know The Dynavector xx2 mk2, the bass section is the best of this cartridge, and here is enhanced by the Technics speed.

Stay tuned !

I put an SME V on one of these with a kontrapunkt B cart - sound was fantastic.

SME V is definitively out of budget... Ortofon too :D
But... if in the future I wish to change my cart, I have only one in mind: Lyra Delos :)
