Anyway.. tonight is his wonderful Bruckner 8 with Saarbrücken RSO, and then the long out of print Mercury Shostakovich 5th with Minneapolis (as it was then) for old times sake.

But it's not like the 1610 Vespers and not every work on the album is by Monteverdi - it's a kind of compilation including pieces by Gabrieli as well.
It reminds me of the Venetian Coronation album from McCreesh of a couple of years ago.
I'd certainly recommend it.

Some Honegger:
I know Honegger's symphonies through the complete set by Baudo and the Czech Philharmonic (now seemingly not available) so was curious about these performances by Stéphane Denève since he did such a wonderful job with Roussel on Naxos. Quite good and in better sound than the Baudo. The "Liturgique" and Pacific 231 are 1st class performances, bringing Honegger's propulsive scores to life without being over dramatic.
Recommended. Hope this leads to more Honegger, so far this is the only disc.

I have 5 different versions Mark and my favourite would be Gardiner followed by Alessandrini.
