v111 also not working here. mqnplay start as a process, and mqnplay and mqncontrol both close at the end, but no sound is heard.

Do not know why, but v111 and 112 both worked for me. Nothing special in my setting.
Joined the board, because to me, the sound signature of mqnplay changed a bit into a - sorry, found no better word - "boomy" direction. At least v112 and 111 are heavy bass drivers. For my setup a bit too much. Anyone else who shares my experience?

which version do you prefer then ?

from your findings I guess the others drivers can't handle 16/44.1 in extensible format. Though I used extensible for everything when mqn was wasapi with no problems from users, so a bit strange.

am trying to get mqn to work with the laptop speakers/headphone jack.

Hi, Gordon, think you are right in terms of the inability to handle the extensible format, yes. Actually I like v106 most of the later versions. My preference is only regarding sound, not of a developer perspective, I know :-) MQN is my favorite player - full stop. Thank's a lot for your hard work.
