What are you listening two?
Re: What are you listening two?
Currently listening to CD Review. The Pavel Haas Quartet is very good and the Talich led performance of the excerpt from Dvorak's Ninth is marvellous.

Re: What are you listening two?
The two Richard Strauss Horn concertos are at either ends of the composer's life Seán; the first was written when he was only 18 and the second towards the end of his life. Both are lyrical works but obviously vary on the maturity scale. Both are a pleasant listen though. Enjoy if you do seek them out.Seán wrote: I must listen to my Zinman/Tonhalle Orchestra Strauss recordings and find out what I am missing.

Re: What are you listening two?
The Czech Philharmonic Orchestra are an ensemble with a distinctive sound as you know Seán and Talich usually has something interesting to offer so the combination is a winner to start with. I am also a great admirer of the Supraphon label. I would imagine that those forces combined would certainly bring something very interesting to Dvorak.Seán wrote:Currently listening to CD Review. CD 2 from this set....
The Strauss Don Quixote was not totally top drawer, but good. The Schumann Cello Concerto was a very good performance however.

Re: What are you listening two?
I had been eagerly awaiting the arrival of this CD….
….so I listened to it almost as soon as I received it. What a delightful collection of works; seven sonatas and one cantata. Musically, they were very pleasant and interesting to listen to. The small ensemble play superbly and the recording is excellent. Warmly recommended!
