And it seems that if you want to get some little known work on records you will have to cooperate. In the late 50´s and early 60´s there were record clubs [this was before my time, but I have read about them] they gathered a pool of music lovers and they payed for the album BEFORE the recording was made. It seemed to work for a while.

Did Gardiner also do this recently enough with his last installment of the JS Bach Cantatas on SDG?

Franz Strauss was actually Richard's father Seán. Franz was alo a very renowned Horn player and it was this influene that obviously led to Richard writing the two Horn Concertos. The Franz Strauss Horn Concerto is a wonderful work actually; would lead one to seek out more of his music if indeed there is more to investigate.
