Re: What are you listening two?
Yes, it was DG. I don´t remember when he signed an exclusive contract for orchestral recordings with them, but it must have been in the early 80´s. Even his last opera recording with EMI dates from 1983.fergus wrote:Jose Echenique wrote:

Thank you for the above Pepe. However, what I was trying to ask [and did not ask correctly] was who contracted von Karajan to record the complete cycle; I presume that it was DG?

Gustav Mahler
Symphony No. 5
Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra
Herbert van Karajan conducting
I have had it on repeat play all weekend and I just had to put it on again this evening.
HvK gets this magnificent orchestra to plays like gods. The Rondo-Finale is a wonderful evocation of joy and triumph, it never fails to lift my spirits as it rises and rises and soars to a glorious climax. Bravo Herbert and thank you.

Thank you Pepe. I thought that it was with DG but I was not sure whether or not he had concluded new negotiations when he split up with the BPO and went over to the VPO.Jose Echenique wrote: Yes, it was DG.
