That was Davis´first of some 4 versions of the Symphonie Fantastique. My own favorite is the second with the Concertgebouw.

Yes, the first was with the LSO in the 60´s, the second with the Concertgebouw, recorded in the 70´s, then in the 80´s he recorded it digitally with the Vienna Philharmonic, all these in Philips, and finally, he returned to the LSO [LSO Live] for his final farewell.

Today is the 300 anniversary of an immensely admired composer in the XVIII Century, Niccoló Jommelli, he fell out of fashion in the 19th Century, and he is still awaiting reevaluation, I am sure his time will come.
