You may not like 5.14 version, but you made it, sorry, and it is damn good...IMO!
I haven't tried all KS versions, but most of them. They are excellent, but "my problem" now is that I compare everything to DSD, and even worst to DSD 128 (absolute digital reference at this point). It is kind of poise...
MQn 5.14 is the one which has that kind of taste, and makes me not to stop listening, whatever I get going. I am not trying to analyze the differences, I just go by the feel and joy. The differences are very small, anyway, at this point.

musical notes sounds soft probably only because ks doesn't have enough bass.
think its timing and/or resolution not really bass quantity
like piano needs to be sharp, hard and tight
everything should come together if its fixed
im not knocking ks, hopefully will get better control
Bass quality (not quantity) and resolution is better in 5.14.
KS has more body, but lack of details.
This is just the beginning and I'm sure that Gordon will get there............. and overpass! ;-)

uploaded portaudio v45 and mqnplay 7.36, these will only play when used together ie no previous version of pa or mqnplay will work with these.

should set a new standard, though not as good as 5.14 obviously.

I've been following this for almost a year, including CA thread, and we've all learned that you always find the way how to cross the line, and make it better.
But, even if you stop right now, I wouldn't be disappointed.
MQn is the best player out there, no question!

Continous crackles is not my idea of a new reference.
Prefer 5.14 that has no crackles

More analogue/vinyl-like. ...must be great.
