Disc1, first time hearing the SACD layer from this recording. Highly recommended boxset too.

Having another listen to this recent purchase....

I had to post a note this CD here as it is one of those rare but deliberate purchases that I make that force me out of my comfort zone from time to time. Corcoran’s music was very challenging for me but I knew what was coming; however I was not prepared for the depth of it. On first listen it sounds like chaos; but then you read the liner notes [see other thread] and you find that in some places that is exactly what he was trying to depict. Then you listen again and you see (hear) the struggle between Chaos and Order. One also sees (hears) the complex forms and tonal juxtapositions in a different light; not that it all becomes any clearer but it begins to make some sense. Definitely challenging music but rewarding with persistence! Those who know him and me will understand when I say that this is cybot type music LOL!

I like listening to Handel's Organ Concertos. They are relatively straightforward and uncomplicated and serve as a simple introduction to the genre.
