I accept you have the golden ears so you will have to listen and judge to be certain.
The spdif/meridian has punch/detail but definitely a bit more rounded I think. But very listenable and really 99% of people would be happy with that
The pc has more potential I feel but on my pc the lampi is sharper and more dynamic.
is this down to the pico supply that you need to remove for me on your next visit and usb card I am not sure?? (hint hint)

Lampi sound definitely is as you describe Nigel and that is why I took the punt after hearing Maciej's. Long term comparisons between Ken's Chord will determine if it this is the way to go or the Chord route gets the real deal. For me the big warm sound but with enough detail swings it particularly with 'I should Watch TV' by DB and STV which needs as much warmth as can be mustered.

well the meridian had a low noise floor and less jitter, but the pc had more detail retrieval
was thinking bout jks usb to spdif converter vs direct usb

ok ill try make up something for you to try

i think when you have very high detail retrieval the noise floor and jitter need to be really really low so as not to sound harsh, edgy etc well thats my guess anyhow

lampi need +5v on the usb?

1. Meridian- Would agree you are correct.
JK Spdif died after firmware upgrade and went back to Sandymount Hospital for immediate surgery unfortunately the hospital consultant is currently away in New York so spdif is sitting on a trolley in the hall awaiting Doc's return.

2. Many thanks maybe a reminder of what I need to buy and I will order the parts. Do you use the multimeter to measure output from each pin to decide what voltage to supply to each pin on the board?

3. I think we all acknowledge you are completely on the money and your further work on the clocks may just get esoteric levels of playback to the masses for little lolly.

4? Unfortunately link shows listing ended and doesn't seem to be for sale anymore. Don't see anything comparable in ebay

1.That chest of stuff in Sebs?? He must have bought 400 of them.

2.As per Ken Moreland and Freddie Mercury I want it all and I want it now! Linear and battery have to keep up with the jones(it sounds the best)

3On Lampi don't be asking me technical questions! Using the TZ Zun cable and need to check with Pearse I think it has power going through it but gut feeling is Lampi shouldn't need it, might have to butcher PPangs neat work. Need to try a cable without power but the elijah audio is ridiculous too short (10cm)

Batteries will put a bit of a strain on the budget best configuration needs at least 12 cells at about 10 euro each
Along with everything else
But I'd never go back
Some of the guys I was in contact with says the Hynes linears may be better than lifepo4 but with much cost and waiting

on AA audioengr says the batteries are not good enough for his products (empirical audio) and ph regs beats them.

Hard to what way it works with a pc, ps ripple might not be everything might have something to do with dealing with the noise the mobo throws back out
Maybe that's why I've found using seperate supplies transformers and batteries to as many seperate components as possible
I'm sure p Hynes could figure it out
