I had MQNLoad starting on enter button and batch file set to hidden.
Alt + Space to select MQNPlay and Control.
Running on Server 2012 Essentials by the way without licence activation yet.

Will be interested to see if someone can validate my findings or tell me to get my hearing checked!!
Cheers, Pearse.

Pearse

You've got a magical version of avx 4.08!!!

It runs straight away after copying your directory, and starting it from MQNLoad.
Earlier I redownloaded it again from the Google archive, but that wouldn't run either.

A very big THANK YOU.

Cheers

is that evidence that bit identical files are different ?

4.10 512 avx doesn't work for me using mqncontrol 2.97 and neither does 4.08 taken from Pearse's dropbox(thanks Pearse). Just reverted to 3.14avx and no problem.

Using 4.08 taken from Pearses dropbox doesn't work for me either, but using the complete directory from Pearse and running from MQnLoad in his directory does work.

But as soon as I make copies into other directories they won't play.

So try it with the whole of Pearse's directory.

Cheers

uploaded 4.12 avx/sse3, further prefetching trial, might be better.

has anyone heard of henryaudio dac http://www.henryaudio.com/open-source.php

open source drivers, wonder if the driver and player could be integrated.

4.12 has the best detail/vocal articulation I've heard on the 1000 shades of blue track.

4.12 rewards well recorded tracks with alot of detail and decent vocal insight.....but it punishes those that aren't.
I think 4.12 is pretty analytical. With alot of rock tracks at volume mqnplay 4.12/control 3.61 is just too much for me. musical? not sure, but on well recorded tracks it sounds good.

I find 4.08 see2 /mqn control 3.61 a little easier to listen to across my music collection.
It seems to compliment/render more genres 'better' to my ear. I'm listening to......
Hard rock, Electronica, Jazz, Folk, new age, trance, alternative rock/grunge,country, experimental, atmospheric, etc

On a positive note 4.12 seems to have an improvement in bass upper clarity and punch.

Sorry Gordon haven't heard the Henry DAC.
Looks interesting.

Haven't had a chance to test 4.10 and 4.12, but milestone versions up to 4.09 all have their proper place now. Still haven't managed to get any avx's going, so maybe I'll give Pearse's magic folder a try tonight. I'd love to hear an up-to-date avx.

I'll stick to the sse's for my ranking. FYI my references are still 3.14 avx for 1644 and 3.39 avx for 2496.
Here's the ranking:

4.04 > 4.08 > 4.09 > 4.05 > 3.97 > 3.75 > 4.00 ..... (including 3.57 avx and 3.27 avx!)

So these latest sse's do manage to beat the later avx's in my system. 4.08, 4.09 and 4.05 have quite a similar signature, and 4.08 is really good. 4.04 is a bit of an odd one out. 4.08 has qualities that 4.04 doesn't have, mid range detail, holographic imaging, sparkling timing. 4.04 however has amazing treble detail, speed of attack, natural decay and overall realism. I've a slight preference for 4.04, but it's hard to decide, probably dependent on genre.

I'd love to have a working avx version of 4.04! :-)

On we go...

Can say that avx 4.10 and avx 4.12 also do run from within Pearse's directory, but again not outside.
Strange thing, hay?
