Lets vote on the Forum layout since its seems to be dragging on in the other thread. If the outcome is a clear 'yes' we can talk about the layout in here a bit more.

I am a member of quite a few forums for work and various hobbies. The most successful are invariably the ones with fewer sub-categories.

Do we really want sub fora for cables and interconnects?

Should the interconnects have its own sub fora for digital and analogue interconnects. Should the digital interconnect sub forum itself have a USB sub forum? Should this USB sub forum have its own sub forum for directional USB cables. Should the directional USB sun forum have its own sub forum for cotton encased USB directional digital interconnects?

And what do I do if I want to find information about yellow cotton encased USB directional interconnects? You mean I'll have to trawl through all the posts about red, orange, blue, indigo and violet cotton encased USB directional interconnects?

Yes.... let's get it out in the open... a chance for everybody to get their oar in and trash this out once and for all etc.

We can make this forum as simple or as complicated as we like... however recently I did attempt to carry out a search for

Audio Technica cartridges.

The results where just overwhelming.... because the word "Audio" is almost on every post of every thread. Google would be faster and easier.

I would be in favor of a limited number of sub threads... namely listed below

Speakers. Just one section, covering any and all, including Bookshelf, Floorstanders, Electro statics, new, old, and any and all different colors etc.

Amplifiers.... any and all,, new old, pre, power, passive, SS, & valve.

Turntables, including tonearms, cartridges, new, old, different colors etc etc etc.

CD players, again the same idea.

Other.... perhaps tuners and Music Cassette.... however I don't think there is enough users on the forum to support this topic.

I'm sure there are a few other things I have forgotten to mention...

Obviously one could search for technica only, which gives 3 results or do a google search of the forum as above.

All the attempts to change the forum are to save current members 38 seconds of their time, not to have to be looking at rock albums if I feel like electronica. I suggest we are trying to change the forum to interest NEW members or the ones that are turned off quickly. Perhaps looking at how other successful audio fora are set-up may be a good place to start.

Hi ,

Probably get shot for this but any chance of a small section for Home Cinema or Subs ? I imagine a few people get great enjoyment from their systems and have to integrate the two and maybe we could have a section dedicated to getting the best out of a mixed set up

Im going to have to mix the Hifi and Home cinema in the one room so will possibly look at decent fronts that could double as good Hifi , and maybe an Amp with Processor mode etc etc

Thanks

Currently of no interest to me but I would agree wholeheartedly there has to be a lot of people interested in this and I think i
it should have its own thread. When/If I get interested in it all the posts relating to that subject are in the one place. You can browse through that thread rather then putting in searches.
