problem is how can I test if it works.Clive101 wrote:Hi
I'm struggling to play anything but 24bit 96 KHz Wav files on my dCS Debussy Dac that wants everything in 24 bit containers.
I have an i5 CPU - which version of MQNplay and MQNcontrol should I download to play 16bit wavs on my DAC?
I'm running Windows 8.1 64 bit.
I am a bit confused by all the versions / combinations so really would appreciate some advice if anyone has an idea.
Many thanks

Re: MQN
I understand you can't know what works on every dac but which combination is most likely to work do you think or perhaps would you expect to work?sbgk wrote:problem is how can I test if it works.Clive101 wrote:Hi

Re: MQN
I would rather try and understand how to arrive at the optimal period setting, how sure can you be that 100000 is the best and what should be used for the other sample rates.Aleg wrote:John Dot wrote:I think this might be the best version so far.sbgk wrote:uploaded 1.3 sse2 24 bit.
+ 2.1 sse2 24 bit
All versions are measured against the 100000 and none make it IMHO.
Why not continue from 100000 instead of trying to find other approaches that sound as good as 10000?
Or at least release a 24-bit and a 32-bit version of 100000, so there is a complete set from the 100000.

Am open to any ideas that would help.
Re: MQN
I mean't how can I test 16 in 24 without such a device. I tried before, but didn't get anywhere.Clive101 wrote:I understand you can't know what works on every dac but which combination is most likely to work do you think or perhaps would you expect to work?sbgk wrote:problem is how can I test if it works.Clive101 wrote:Hi

control 24 bit R1.0 512 and play sse2 R1.3 or sse2 R2.1

Thanks - appreciate it's ultimately up to the DAC manufacturer - just tried combination you recommended and no joy I'm afraid. 24 bit 96 khz sounds great though but alas no 16 bit for me!

Re: MQN
uploaded so called 100000 versions of control/play sse2 versions, have called them 24 bit sse2 10ms etc versions. All sample rates are aligned to 10ms except for 24/176 and 24/192 which are 5ms.
Does sound blooming good.
have tested 16/44, 24/48, 24/96 & 24/192 successfully, seems to be a problem with 24/176
R1.1 fixes the 24/176 issue

Thanks for following up on the idea, but why no 32-bit version?
Now there is nothing to test except another 100000 44.1/16!

Re: MQN
appreciate how frustrating it is for you, sorry to disappoint you with my tardy release of a 32 bit version, shall endeavour to work harder in the future.Aleg wrote:Gordonsbgk wrote:uploaded so called 100000 versions of control/play sse2 versions, have called them 24 bit sse2 10ms etc versions.
