I could not resist the combination of recordings and price. Only 26 GBP today at AmazonUK and seemingly a musical treasure trove!!!

That is surely a great buy guys! I have 5 of those individual CDs and they are all great. Whatever about the integrity of Robert King there is absolutely nothing wrong with the integrity of this music making. Enjoy!!

Peter wrote:Oh, I also went for "Berlioz: Complete Orchestral and Sacred Music" set conducted by Sir Colin Davis. After all the talk in this thread in regards to French music I realized that Berlioz was quite unknown to me (apart from the Requiem and Symphonie Fantastique). Figured that it would be worth the plunge. It has not arrived yet, but I prepared by listening twice to the symphony. Ha ha ha! Interestingly, I was planning to his opera "Les Troyens" later this month as Lorraine Hunt performs in the recording I have.

That should be an excellent introduction to the world of Berlioz. I have this version....

....and it is a really wonderful set filled with excellent music and music making - and you have almost double that amount!!

Mine too! Have fun with that one! :)

I just received a box of Ansermet's renditions of French music. So far the Debussy pieces are wonderful! I have never really ventured far into Debussy nor Ansermet. I went crazy and got the DG Debussy box as well! I am in for it now!!!! Still, it is so mesmerizing to explore music.

I am a big fan of Ansermet and I have managed to buy a small number of his performances on vinyl. You should enjoy that set a lot Peter.
