Derek Nalley RIP

Post by Ivor »

Derek Nalley passed away on Thursday morning following a heart attack at his home in Drogheda.

Those who went to gigs in Whelans, the Village or often Vicar Street will have Derek Nalley to thank for bringing in the acts other promoters never even heard of.

I can't imagine any other promoter being interested in Model T Ford, Kinky Freidman, a largely unknown Mary Gauthier or a Tommy Ramone gig with 30 people there, at least 10 of whom were on the guest list!

He was an absolute gentleman who loved music first and his long list of genuine friends reads like a fine CD collection.

A sad loos to us all. Our thoughts are with his wife and young family.
