I think it all comes down to the amount of time the TV is going to be used everyday.
If you have kids who play the Wii PS3 etc while your not around or just as bad your wife pausing the sky + and
doing whatever they do for 2 hours and then coming back to finish their program them a plasma is not the answer.
Both have their good and bad points but for convenience a LCD or LED makes more sense.I've learned the hard way
and also speaking to my brother about this who also has young enough kids(and a wife) and he was thinking the same.

I came across this link on a forum to a downloadable calibration tool for HD, Blu Ray and even PCs. I haven't tried it myself but it comes through a repuatable source.
