To make it as clear as we can, here are some simple guidelines:
a) like any forum, the success of tirnahifi is entirely dependent on discussion. All members are encouraged to participate in discussion of music, hifi, etc.

c) those members who choose to sell on the site should be aware that the mods do keep an eye on the stuff for sale, plus the demeanour of the seller. Sometimes we may lock/delete/ban a sales thread on this basis.
d) honesty is paramount in all selling transactions. Commercial sellers who label themselves as such are accepted at the discretion of the moderating team.
e) All ads have to include information about age, price, provenance, etc.
f) THE MODERATING TEAM RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REMOVE ANY ADS AT THEIR DISCRETION.
g) Commercial sellers should approach any of the moderation team in advance of posting. First time commercial posts without moderator contact will be removed.

Anyone thinking of looking at these would want to do their homework carefully! 8 x panels at €130 odd each ain't cheap.
If the panels are good then it's a great deal. The back one looks a bit ropey though.

During my break today I had a quick look at these. One of the feet is missing from one speaker, and both of the metal surrounds are not flat on the front but I couldn't see if they were damaged as the socks were on.. The sock covers have small rips too. I asked the shop attendant if they worked and he said if they didn't work that when you tried them at home they would refund if they were faulty, also they have a buy one get one free offer, so you could in fact get them for half this price. Also if buying them solely you get 30% off.

A pair of new tights for them would be about 50 or so. The cosmetics are cheap to fix, no so the panels. The metal grilles just clip in, so could be dislodged, but this is indicative of rough handling. IF the shop is agreeable, you can quickly see what is loose inside by removing the cover - just slide the timber top to the right and it will lift off. Then unhook the fabric from the velcro and you can slide it down.
Best thing to do with these is turn them on, leave them on for 15-30 mins. At the rear, near the speaker terminals/plug, there is a little rubber grommet. Pull this out and have a look inside. You should see a little neon bulb, fairly faint. This should flicker on and off at a rate slower than 1/sec. If its flashing quicker than that, or is staying on all the time, then leave them, walk out of the shop and don't look back.
If they flash more slowly, and the frames aren't obviously broken, then they might be worth taking a chance on.
A pair of 63s has 8 panels in total. Cost per replacement panel is around €120 or so - not an insignificant amount of money. 57s are cheaper to repair (6 panels total).

Its a diagnostic for the charge on the panels. Flashing too quickly means that there is a drain on the HV supply, which normaly means a leaky panel. leaky panels=replacement before too long. Often when one panel goes, the rest will follow within a few years.

Did anyone buy these as they could be worth a shot, I wouldn't have the space for them at the mo.
