6v in bikeworld they have to go off and check as no call for it anymore and not in stock. Checked with europower as per Fran's suggestion. €29 for 6v 12a sealed standby battery 150mm x100mm in size.Used for standby power and cyclists(why don't know). As soon as I get around to wiring up the linear supply for the usb key that seems worth a try for that price. I think Nigel suggested battery on the usb yielded the biggest improvement? Certainly that would be neat and tidy(ish)

On Server my evaluation copy is shutting down every 30mins or so. Checked with Audiophil and advised that is what happens when the trial expires. Have command to reset it so will try that and let you know what happens. See he is in talks with microsoft about bundling reduced functionality version of server with his script. Interesting to see what price that comes out at.

Not sure if I am barking up the wrong tree here but will this do the 5volt supply? Motorcycle battery chargers will do 6 and 12v and provide a very small trickle charge.
batteries max voltage is only what its charged up to
if a 6v is run down till it reaches 5v then connect a 5v wall wart to it to keep it a sort of half charged

postage from uk on a battery would nearly same as the price of the battery

i wouldn't run out and buy a heap of batteries,
as discoveries are made, things change and smaller ones may very well be just as good

im going to get a couple of lifepo4's and see if i can get near to 5v ish
just to see if theres any benefit over alkaline
if i fall over a 6v motorcycle battery in the mean time ill try that too

Thanks Nige for the get together, it was certainly an interesting night and a more interesting excursion through the back roads of Meath.
Sign of the times that the M3 can be such a desolate place at midninght.

Hope the Dubhs are running well after the "did or did not moment" on whether a power line was connected to them....not by you of course!!
I think we can all say that you are a very accomplished cable swopper after what we seen on the night.

I will certainly be going after improved power supplies with more vigour after what we seen and heard on the night.

Might be worth trying to install core server Tony on audio PC as mine has been running for about 70 days now with no issues and I did not activate or do any reset.

Funny thing
I nearly bought one of these a while back for my power hungry phone
completely blanked this out for this application

great find

really would be embarrassed if I actually had one
doh.....

I assume it can be charged and discharged at the same time?

We were listening to only one PC off batteries when we visited?
So I guess this is better sounding - how much better?
