Re: Build a dedicated Audio PC
I have an Acoustic Revive isolator on the way from Japan, and I see someone on the Jplay forum prefers the GISO model. When it arrives we can hook up to listen and compare if possible.

Doesn't pearse have one of them coming, maybe wait to hear that as audio pc firstClaus wrote:This is scary indeed! Now I am considering buying a Cirrus7 Nimbus as Audio PC and then using my NUC as Control PC in a StreamerMode setup! Which model should I go for? i5?
the usb key is ok, i didn't look into why it wouldnt boot for you, as it would take longer than a reinstall
also i see we all have to get lan isolators as its the next big sq improver giso gb eh pity it wasnt cheaper
ill wait to hear one first anyway

Re: Build a dedicated Audio PC
Sound (hmm) advise there, Nige. :D I will wait and see.... But getting as big an improvement as Server Core plus script with a Lan Isolator... I am tempted ;)
Re: Build a dedicated Audio PC
Hi Claus,
I received the Cirrus7 yesterday but unfortunately I will not get time to set it up until I return from holidays in 2 weeks.
I plan to use it as control PC so you can check it out then if you want, it is a nice compact piece of kit alright and well built.
Hope the dual network adaptors talk to Core Server!!
It will all have to end soon :-))
Cheers,
Pearse.

We should definitely compare Ken, it is a serious improvement in sound, surprised we are both coming so late to this big improvement.Ken Moreland wrote:I have an Acoustic Revive isolator on the way from Japan, and I see someone on the Jplay forum prefers the GISO model. Re: Build a dedicated Audio PC
I got core server installed today, or should I say Nigel got core server installed for me!
Quite the improvement alright and worth the effort. Many thanks to Nigel!
Side note:
After we installed core server, drivers etc etc, the zuma wouldn't pick up the jkdac32 (hi face driver). Couldn't figure it out and in the end we just said sure what the hell we might as well run the cad script. Right after the script ran, it picked up the dac no problem.
Another thing give underclocked the zuma (cpu and ram) and got another improvement. This is definitely worth doing.
My last job now is to connect up a separate power supply for the usb stick.... But I know better than to say that will be the end!

Re: Build a dedicated Audio PC
Must of got there at similar times today Fran. Again I got help from Nigel as well and have core server with audiophil script running and all is sounding very good.
The problem with the dac is resolved with running the script alright. I think it is KS that gets lost when you switch to core from gui.
Audiophil script sorts out KS issue when it runs.
I had underclocked also after I heard Nigels system and I haven't switched back.
Now trying to get core sandisk working on my laptop. For some reason the sandisk with core server on it is not recognised as a boot drive.
Kingston WTG stick boots up fine on this laptop.
The power supply separation yields more well I did when I heard Nigels set up.
But you still need to get a few lan isolators and some esorbs for the isolators to get to the next level!

Re: Build a dedicated Audio PC
Nigel called out to me as he drove out the gate that you got yours working!!
I'm using a sandisk USB3 cruzer edge (I think) for my wtg and it worked in my laptop.
Surgery on the USB3 header cable is next.....
