Well done Simon on another very enjoyable performance. I enjoyed your varied programme. The “Chant de May” was most charming (even if you were restraining every fibre of your personality!!!) but I was particularly taken by the Schumann Etude; I will definitely have to investigate his Op. 56 further!

Actually, the Schumann was probably the piece I was least happy with on the day, but they're so unique I really like playing them. The one being played next week (in Ab major) is probably my favourite, but Derek got there before me in the programming choices! I can't even recommend a CD of the music, because I don't think I possess one myself. Let me know how you get on!

The Schumann wouldn't have been my cup of tea at all now; not enough bombast and without the delicacy of the Bach

I think you should have have played that piece you wrote in West Cork!
Brass Bands are all very well in their place -
outdoors and several miles away....
