Alternative headphones to the Sennheiser PX 100

Post by Seán »

My young lad and I have gone through several pairs of PX 100 headphones over the past few years, they are very good but they are also very fragile. I use them when I am out and about walking or travelling on public transport. I am wondering if you know off any suitable alternative to the PX 100's that are more robust by any chance?

I bought these for my young fella. (I think they were slightly cheaper than this).

I got tired of replacing cheap & cheerful in-ear yokes (he had the 100s but they didn't last too long) and to be honest he appreciates the better quality of these ones.

Ivor Is he ok walking around the street with them? normally with the kids the more discreet the better. But I agree with all above I dont know how many pairs my kids have destroyed. Virtually every apple pair that came with the various ipods purchased(5 at the last count)
Daughter goes through ipods and phones on a monthy basis. She is in school but you would think its a coal mine the way all these products disintegrate.

he is of course. He doesn't care if they're not discreet (he knows they're 'proper headphones') and given that he's over 6ft he's not worried about them being robbed either. He's just going into 6th year and I be optimistic he'll get the next year out of them. He's had them a while and there's no 'wear and tear' yet.

Thanks for that Ivor. My lad probably won't walk the streets with them on his head but he will wear them in the house. I just can't afford to keep forking out money on PX 100's. I have ordered the HD's for him and will give them to him later this month on his Birthday.

No bother. There seems to be two schools of thought out there (no pun intended) amongst scoolkids. Some are quite happy to wear 'real' headphones and get a better sound and they think the idea of shoving a little speaker up against your ear drum is seriously uncool... then there's those who just want whatever everyone else has. Both understandable. I found my son takes more care with the better ones. It saves money in the long run!

Ivor, will you repost that Komplett link? I can't get it to work. I'm thoroughly enjoying my PX100s, but I'm sure it is only a matter of time before they break.

Apologies... that's a bad habit I have from other forums.
