Re: Cluytens Beethoven
Let us know what you think of the set Simon... I don't personally own it, although I am aware that the rest of the gang have made encouraging noises about it. That said, Darren, Sean and Fergus always seem to be in the market for another good set of LvB Symphonies, whereas I'm happy with the 4/5 sets I already own.Diapason wrote:Ta. Just ordered it.
I'd be interested to learn, which sets do you presently have, and what do you think of them?
Re: Cluytens Beethoven
I currently have exactly ZERO sets, which has long been a source of amusement to friends. I've never been a massive Beethoven fan, but it's time to bite the bullet here. I doubt this set will be my last!
The only Symphonies I currently have are 6 and 8 conducted by Solti and I like that disc.

Re: Cluytens Beethoven
my strong suggestion would be to invest in the Kleiber: Nos 5/7, which is usually voted in the top 5 most revered classical recordings ever made in most polls, and of course has the merit of being dirt cheap... because its always in production and is sold by the bucket-load.
