It's on a compilation called 'Made to Love Magic' (2004) and it's a fantasic rag bag of alternative versions of familiar songs plus another version of 'Three Hours' plus his very last song 'Tow the Line' - an accidental discovery by his original engineer John Wood! Highly recommended for any genuine Nick Drake afficiando. Hope that helps...jadarin wrote:I haven't heard that version.Must have a look.

Had a quick listen to Five Leaves Left before being dragged out to Tesco. It's certainly a grower, on first listening Three Hours, Way to Blue and Day is Done make a tremendous mood setting trilogy, but no doubt on repeated playings more will emerge. Well worth the time.

Great stuff John and delighted to hear you're gettin there.... it is a grower and well worth the time/effort as all timeless records are. I myself had a listen to side one of 'Bryter Later' last night - see what you inspired! - and it's not as bad as I was expecting. The 'sweet' instrumentals are short scene setters,if you like, and I was surprised to find that the memory of 'Five Leaves Left' wasn't getting in the way of my enjoyment of 'Bryter...'! I forgot to mention two other great songs from said album - 'One Of These Things First' and 'Hazy Jane 1'. One thing I will say John, is your appreciation of his music will be enhanced even more if you read up on his life...The box set ('Fruit Tree') has a beautiful essay on his life and depending on which version you get also has a DVD of a film made about his life... Enjoy the (lifetime) journey...JAW wrote:Had a quick listen to Five Leaves Left before being dragged out to Tesco. Hazy Jane 1
'Do you feel like a remnant
of something that's past,
do you feel things are moving
just a little too fast
Do you hope to find new ways
of doing better than your worst
Hey slow,Jane,let me prove,
slow,slow, Jane, fly on by'
If songs were lines
in a conversation
the situation
would be fine

What can one possibly say about the Crimson! A totally unique band! 'Red' is my favourite although 'In The Court.... is so much of it's time and can leave one feeling ever so slightly strange :-))mick wrote:

Ok I am very singularly extremely biased here in relation to this band but ordered four of the above Talking Heads albums digitally remastered CD and DVDA at play.com at €6.49 each yesterday. These retail at approx €20 each in HMV so delighted to get these versions at such a great price.
