I always love the raw electricity that is present in the Gardiner set.
I have not listened to the Hogwood for a while so I must give that set a listen sometime soon.

perhaps there is a bit more subtlety in places in the Hogwood set and some nice textures that usually come with his work but as you said, the Gardiner set has that raw electricity in it. Stand out moments for me in that set are the entire 7th, the final movement of the 9th and the transition from the 3rd to the 4th movement in the 5th.
