Well then the chip is a Intel and using intel CISC architecture etc.

Its just when you mentioned G5 in your original post it caught my attention. G5 was (still is) a processor developed by IBM but it used RISC architecture etc. Link below.

It occured to me that there could be a software confict / issue if you were trying to run more modern software on an older computer etc. However not so!!!!!!!!!!!

You could consider an alternative which would be to wirelessly stream the music via an airport express or other dac connected to your amp.
