Before moving on elsewhere with my considerations in Opera, I have decided to invest in these two disks; firstly because they were both very cheap, secondly because they are both highly regarded (I saw the Gheorghiu performance of La Trav with Solti on DVD, so I have an idea of what I'm in for here), and thirdly because they were both operas I got something out of first time round... and I think it will help to see a different production of each... time will tell whether it was money well spent or not, but I'm very much hoping so.
