tube tester

I recently bought a GZ34 from the UK , however on replacing my 5AR4 with it all I get is a loud hum. Does anyone have a tube tester ? if so could i send it to you and see what it reads ????

Don't know anyone with one......

Sounds like its faulty - one diode not working or something.

Interestingly, I had an RCA 6X4 like this - and although I didn't get that hum, I got a much lower output voltage compared to a different make in the same position. Guess rectifiers are something that do a lot of heavy lifting, might be just worn out?
