Tony will you stop! The Cyrus gear is well regarded so just sit back and enjoy the music...I can just picture the two of you doing that dance from Saturday Night Fever ;)))

Ok No diskco dancing today just a brief listen to tellerium cables thanks to Ivor and lots of banter. Certainly bags of detail unearthed in these cables,maybe more than what the nordost cables were delivering. Seem a very nice cable discreet in appearance and for the price level would seem to be a very strong competitor for nordost cables costing significantly more. As Ivor will probably testify cyrus kit doesnt need to be made any brighter. Presentation is forward and I felt with the telleriums it was bordering on sharp but when I went back to the nordost the same can be applied to this cable (solarwind) . If I was being critical on some sections it was a bit ear piercing. I tried a Lambchop cd and the presentation allied to the type of music was perfect. Loads of detail and very clear. It would seem if I want something more laided back it will require a change and I dont want to go there for quiet a while. If memory serves me right the heimdall gave the best combination of detail with a dark edge but at that price level it would want to do something. My first ever laptop arrived today as Ivor was leaving another little step towards a jkdac.

yep, the tellerium cables deliver bags of detail and that coupled with the somewhat forward sound of the Cyrus amp & CD player would prove tiring over a long listen. I don't think it's wise to try and tame components with cable, that's the tail wagging the dog, instead find the system you like and then try and get the best out of it with suitable cables.

Nice summing up Tony and to tell the truth I wasn't surprised with your findings. I don't know how you can even begin to think of forking out all that dosh for the Heimdall! Have you ever considered the Atlas Hyper range? It's reasonably priced and Peter from Deco Audio swears by it..
It'll do until, as Ivor correctly says, you've got the system sounding as you want it to, before you start plastering it up with expensive cable!

funny thing when I had the system in a different room the sound wasnt as bright.It was located on a concrete floor in a room with a low ceiling.Everything else was the same i.e cables system.I only moved it up to this room at the weekend.it has a suspended timber floor and a higher ceiling. Dermot I take all the points from yourself and Ivor. I am going to try experimenting with removing the granite bases that the speakers sit on and over time the location of the speakers and see what happens. I was very surprised how sharp it all sounded when Ivor called as I was happy with the sound prior to this move. BTW I have no intention of going crazy on speaker cables unless they bowl me over and certainly not at the price of the heimdalls. Really just seeing if a cable could put the finishing touches to this system but because of the issues above I will have to do a bit of messing around with positioning for the moment. Oh I got another eno/budd cd today pearls I think. Ah its great stuff!

Eh... sorry about that! ;) I'd leave the bases as they're probably tightening everything up a bit. The room just needs more soft furnishings to break up the waves. Maybe even a cheapo rug. Were there curtains on the window? These things help.

Glad you like the Eno/Budd cd....that one is extremely quiet :) Also, as Ivor said, if the room is sparcely furnished ie no carpet, no curtains etc etc then you're asking for trouble! Do what the man says! Glad to hear you're not going to go mad with the cables too :)
